We have done alot over the last couple of months. To see the latest pics and find out the latest info check our facebook group page Collective R/C

We have a new aerial image of the field thanks to Aerial Oklahoma. This looks to be taken shortly after we had the pad put in. We are planning to have a bulldozer come out and fix the SE corner to widen it up. You can also check the images on Field Progress Page 3 to see the last couple of weeks of rain has realy helped the grass come in. It is looking very nice.

Update: 6/1/2009
Alot has happened in the last few weeks. Jason and Nathan created signs for the flying field. Thanks guys!! We have placed one at the gate and the other will go at 15th and MacArthur. We have been out the last couple of weeks flying at the field instead of working. It has been a nice break.
Memorial Day we threw together a bbq, you can see the photos under the photo link. It turned out pretty nice with 7 members and a total of about 35 people. Thanks everyone that helped to put it together.
We have scheduled an open house/fundraiser fun fly for June 20th and everyone is welcome to come out and help us raise some money to finish up the field.

Update: 5/18/2009
The grass is starting to come through. A few of us worked out at the field Saturday cleaning and picking up. On Sunday I think most of us showed up and did a little flying and hanging out. The field is starting to come together.

Update: 4/29/2009
Well we went out Monday evening and planted the grass, so weather permiting we should start to see it in a couple of weeks and it should be full in a couple of months.

Update: 4/15/2009
We have been working hard on the field when weather permits. We decided to bring the tree guy back and clear another 100 feet to the east and all the way north. It has really opened it up. We have also cleaned up the tree line between the parking lot and the field, it is looking very nice. Last weekend we worked with weedeaters with saw blade attachements and cut alot of the roots sticking out of the ground on the field. Tomorrow Keith is going to pick up the seed for the grass and we should be planting that soon. We are told that the seed has a 20 day germination period so at the end of May we should have grass.
I will try and get some new pictures up soon.

Update: 3/28/2009
Well alot has happened in the last couple of weeks. The tree cutting has finally finished. Thursday and Friday we had a bulldozer out moving the trees. Both the field area and parking lot are void of trees now. We did some work cleaning the tree line that seperates the parking lot from the field. Now we are going to mark off the field and start leveling and planning.
From a forest to opening in approx. 3 weeks, it's going nicely.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped in what ever way they could. I would exspecialy like to thank Micheal for all his hard work and drive. I think he is the one that pulled this all together and had the drive to get it started and keep it going. I know if he hadn't said lets go get to work I would have been out flying. :)

Update: 3/16/2009
We ended up working at the field this past weekend. We got alot accomplished in the short amount of time. We cleared trees from the driveway that had already been cut down, we just draged them off to another part of the property. Micheal rented a chipper for a few hours and it made quick work of the small stuff. He is looking into getting a comercial one. We actually got the road cleard to the field and I was able to pull my van in and get a flight in on the new field. You can check that out on the photo page.
We still have alot of work ahead of us but it is coming along.

Update: 3/13/2009
Well there are alot of trees. We are into our third day of tree removal and it's coming along, not as well as we had hoped but coming along non the less. We are going to meet out at the field this saturday to do some tree work. Now that alot of them are down, there is alot of them to get rid of. So if you can make it out please come and help get rid of the trees.
I have some video and pictures when I get time I will upload them.

Update: 3/10/2009
We have got the goahead on the lease and are meeting the tree clearing service tomorrow at 7AM. I plan on taking my video camera and will get video of the progress and try to get it uploaded tomorrow evening. If everything goes as planned we should have a place to fly this time tomorrow evening.
It works out that the field is about 20 to 25 acres and we got it for a song at $100.00 a year.

Update: 3/9/2009
On saturday, Jason, Nathan, Michael, and I met at the field and marked it off. We marked a square box 300ft in from the road with 400 feet from east to west and 600ft from north to south. We are waiting on the lease to get signed now and then hopefully meet wednesday to start the clearing work. The lease was dropped off friday and should be signed today.
The current plan is to start on the west boundry and clear east 100ft, leave about 50 or so feet of trees then clear the rest of the area to the east. This will give us a row of trees seperating the parking lot and the runway. We can then use this line to selectivly clear for shade trees and a boundry between the flight line and parking lot. We will also only clear about 200ft north to south on the west side of this tree line for the parking area. On the east side of this tree line we will clear the whole area. This will give us a 250ft by 600ft clearing for runway and flying. This will be just the initial clearing and will probably grow as time and funds permit.

The members are meeting at the new field on Saturday March 7th at 10AM to start marking the outline of the trees for getting them cleared. I have talked with a tree clearing service and it looks like it will be very resonable to get that done. We should have the lease signed by this Friday so work can start next week with the clearing of the trees and development on the field.
